The Challenge

With a vast and ever-growing library, tracking content performance and diversity across different regions is complex. Stakeholders needed a clear view of what types of content (Movies vs. TV Shows) are dominating and how ratings vary by country.

The Solution

I developed an interactive dashboard that visualizes key metrics such as total titles, release trends over time, and content ratings. The dashboard allows for dynamic filtering by country, genre, and year.

Key Insights & Features

  • Content Volume Overview: Total Titles (8251), Total Genres (467), Total Ratings (14), and Locations (94).
  • Genre Distribution: Bar chart showing top genres like Dramas, Comedies, Documentaries, International titles, and Action & Adventure.
  • Movies vs TV Shows: Donut chart comparing Movies (≈68%) vs TV Shows (≈32%).
  • Rating Breakdown: Analysis of content by maturity rating (TV-MA, TV-14, R, PG-13, etc.).
  • Country Contribution: Treemap showing the top 10 countries contributing to Netflix's library (U.S., India, U.K., Canada, France, Australia, etc.).
  • Release Year Trends: Line/area chart visualizing the growth of movies and TV shows over time.

Tools & Technologies

Power BI: For data modeling, DAX calculations, and interactive visualization.

Excel/CSV: Data cleaning and preparation.

Conclusion

This project demonstrates the power of data visualization in transforming raw entertainment data into actionable business intelligence. The dashboard enables quick decision-making regarding content strategy and regional expansion.
